Intestinal Ultrasound (IUS) Hands-On qualifying program

Aim: to provide high quality and comprehensive intestinal ultrasound skills for paediatric gastroenterologists for performing a standardized and effective bed-side examination for the paediatric patient.
ESPGHAN structured a 4 steps qualification program consisted of 4 steps:
Step 1:
Online theoretical introduction to IUS in the paediatric patient (3-4 hours). To be performed within a month prior to the hands-on event.
Step 2:
A hands-on event of two half days. The selected participants will participate in numerous hands-on sessions in small groups with real patients, led by ESPGHAN IUS experts.
Step 3:
Hands-on practice (at least 40 examinations) in an ESPGHAN approved qualifying center.
Step 4:
An advanced hands-on workshop including a qualifying theoretical and bed-side examinations.
This step will be available for participants who successfully complete steps 1-3.
Exam and certification
Each participant, who will successfully finish all 1-4 steps will be able to take a theoretical and practical exam.
A formal ESPGHAN certificate will be provided upon successful completion of the entire qualification and passing the practical and theoretical exam.
We offer a full step 1-2 course (theoretical and hands-on) to be performed during the ESPGHAN annual meeting in Lille.
The meeting will accommodate 1 or 2 groups of 25 delegates (divided into small groups of 5) with each having 3-hour online course 2 weeks prior to the meeting and a 6 hours practical hands-on experience during the meeting, separated by 4 hours (group 1- Thursday afternoon, group 2- Friday morning) and another 2 hours (group 1- early Friday afternoon, group 2- late Friday afternoon).
Participants will be selected based on the time of registration, accessibility to an ultrasound machine (including a commitment letter) and national/center diversity.
NEW!!! ESPGHAN Liver ultrasound workshop
Aim: to provide high quality and comprehensive liver ultrasound skills for pediatric gastroenterologists (both theoretical and practical) for performing a standardized and effective bed-side examination for the pediatric patient.
At ESPGHAN meeting in Lille, France a pilot workshop of liver ultrasound will take place. The meeting will accommodate 1 group of 25 delegates. The group will be divided in to smaller groups depending on their experience. Each group will be able to gain hands-on training under the supervision of experts.
Participants will be selected based on the time of registration, accessibility to an ultrasound machine (including a commitment letter) and national/center diversity.
